Know Your Ag Environment Workshop
Area Farm Bureaus and several partners are sponsoring a ‘Know Your Ag Environment’ workshop on Wednesday, August 8th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gold Star FS Facility in Woodhull. The day will begin with an optional bioreactor viewing at the Curry Farm located at 450 N. Avenue, Alpha from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. At 10:00 a.m. everyone will come together for registration and visiting with vendors at the Woodhull Gold Star FS shop. At 10:30 a.m. Adam Nielsen from Illinois Farm Bureau and Jonathon Coppess from the University of Illinois will be giving a Farm Bill Update. At 11:30 a.m., Barry Fisher, Central Region Leader for the Soil Health Division of the Natural Resources Conservation Service will be presenting ‘Building Soil Health with Cover Crops and Other Strategies.’ A complimentary lunch courtesy of Illinois Farm Bureau will be served from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. At 1:00 p.m. an update on the 4R4U project partnership between Gold Star FS and Mercer County Farm Bureau will be given. Registration for the event is free of charge, but reservations are required by July 31st by calling the Mercer County Farm Bureau at (309) 582-5116. All attendees of this event will be eligible to register to win 30 acres of cover crop mix from Gold Star FS by visiting the 4R4U booth at the event. Farmers should be sure to attend this very informative and education event!
