“Celebrate Ag Night” at Quad Cities River Bandits

The Mercer County Farm Bureau along with Rock Island, Henry, Knox, Bureau, Stark, Whiteside, and Scott (Iowa) County Farm Bureaus sponsored a "Celebrate Ag Night" at the Quad Cities River Bandits on Friday, July 18th. The evening featured the first $1,000 fans receiving Illinois Farm Bureau pint glasses as well as Illinois Farm Bureau Vice-President David Erickson throwing out the first pitch. Also, there were Ag in the Classroom baseball charms for the kids to put together in the kid's area as well as special Ag related games between the innings. Another addition to the fun night out at the ball park was the Barnyard Discoveries petting zoo. The evening also featured several radio and video commercials informing the game attendees where their food, fiber, and fuel come from. It was a great night had by all at the Modern Woodmen ball park!

Young Leader Cook-Out

The Mercer/Rock Island County Farm Bureau Young Leaders met for a cook-out on Friday, June 27th at the home of Terry and Drue Sponheim of Buffalo Prairie. Farm Bureau provided hamburgers and brats and all attending brought delicious dishes to pass. Mercer/Rock Island Young Leader chair Joe Franks provided everyone in attendance with an update on the many activities occurring in the next couple of months. Everyone had a great time and is anxiously awaiting the next event. Young Leaders enjoying themselves at the cook-out. Mercer County Farm Bureau sponsors another successful Mobile Food Pantry

Central Park in Aledo was bustling with busy helping hands on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014 as the Mobile Food Pantry was provided by the River Bend Foodbank in Moline. An abundant truckload of produce, bakery items, and non-perishable food items were able to be distributed to nearly 150 families in the area.
