Prime Timers Luncheon

The Mercer County Farm Bureau Prime Timers will meet on Tuesday, April 22nd at 12 noon at Iowa Machine Shed in Davenport. Joe Taylor, Director of Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau, will be the guest speaker. Dr. Seuss Day

Mercer County Ag in the Classroom will be hosting a Dr. Seuss Day on Friday, April 25th from 9 to 11 a.m. at Winola Elementary school.

Mercer County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship Available

The Mercer County Farm Bureau Foundation announces that they are offering scholarships to students who are to be admitted to a post-secondary school during the 2014-2015 school year. Applicants must be members of the Mercer County Farm Bureau or a dependent of a member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau. Applicants must also meet all other eligibility requirements pertaining to the Foundation’s scholarship program.  The Foundation is awarding up to eight - $1,000 scholarships this year.

Farm Bureau’s “Bushels For Hunger” Makes Donation to the River Bend Foodbank

River Bend Foodbank, serving 22 counties in the Quad City area, recently received $31,478 from District 3 Farm Bureau members. The donation marked the fourth straight year farmers participated in the Bushels for Hunger program.
The latest donation puts the program's total contributions at more than $104,000. Seventy-seven members donated corn and soybeans to participating elevators. Contributed grain gets sold and the proceeds go to the food bank.

Illinois Farm Bureau Governmental Affairs Leadership Conference


 Mercer County Farm Bureau Manager Kendra Bolen and President Jeff Kirwan attended the Governmental Affairs Leadership Conference on February 26 & 27, 2014 at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield. At the conference, attendees attend a legislative reception. Illinois FFA State Vice-President and Aledo native Rachel Hawk also attended the reception to speak with our legislators about issues and challenges facing agriculture. Mercer and Knox County Farm Bureau Legislative Luncheon

The Mercer and Knox County Farm Bureau hosted a legislative luncheon on Monday, March 10th at the Packinghouse in Galesburg. Senator Sullivan, Representative Hammond, Representative Moffitt, and the District Director for Cheri Bustos, Heidi Schultz, attended the luncheon.
